Christmas on Bow Street and Market Square

The council's Lisburn Christmas Market fills Bow Street and Market Square on a Friday in early December, from 2pm to 8pm, with no charge to get in. Some traders take cash only.

Around it, a Mini Festive Market has run on Bow Street most evenings from late November to just before Christmas (4pm to 8pm in 2025). A one-evening Twilight Market has also come to Market Square in early December.

Car boot Saturdays at Drumbo Park and the church halls

Drumbo Park, the greyhound stadium at 57 Ballyskeagh Road, has been listed for a car boot sale on Saturdays through the season, and on some Wednesday evenings in summer. Check its own pages before you load the car.

Church halls hold car boots from time to time: Trinity Methodist on Knockmore Road, and Hillhall Presbyterian at 163 Hillhall Road, which held one in September 2026. Dates change, so watch local listings.

Summer Saturdays on Hillsborough's Dark Walk

The Royal Hillsborough Farmers Market sets up along the Dark Walk at Hillsborough Fort on the last Saturday of May, June and July, 10am to 4pm. It has street food, artisan producers and makers, and entry is free.

The council's Royal Hillsborough Christmas Market comes back to the Dark Walk on a Friday evening and Saturday in mid-December.

Getting a pitch from Lisburn & Castlereagh Council

The council runs the Christmas markets, the Hillsborough farmers' markets and the Moira food fair. Phone the events team on 028 9244 7622 and watch the council news pages for calls for traders.

Selling alone in a Lisburn street or public place needs a council licence: fixed pitch, mobile, or temporary for one event. Ask [email protected] or 028 9244 7300 for the form; the council gives fees on request.

For the Balmoral Show, apply on the RUAS online form. Last year's exhibitors rebook first, until mid-October. Every stand needs £5 million public liability insurance and a risk assessment.

Trains to Lisburn and the old Tuesday market

Lisburn station is on the Belfast to Newry line, about 20 minutes from Belfast Grand Central, and a short walk from Market Square. The council has made its car parks free at weekends before Christmas.

Lisburn's charter of 1627 gave it a Tuesday market, later moved to Smithfield Square. We found no council notice about a weekly market after 2018, so phone 028 9244 7300 before you plan around it.
