Summer Jamm's artisan market on Castle Place

Strabane Summer Jamm is a Saturday in early June, a one-day festival in 2026, running from noon until late. Its Artisan Homegrown Market was new in 2026, run with Studio One.

Local makers and food producers set up on Castle Place, with demonstrations of willow weaving, bodhrán making, green wood working and pottery, and traditional music.

Switch-on Saturday on Railway Street

On a Saturday in late November, the council holds the Strabane Christmas lights switch-on. A Christmas Community Market on Railway Street sells handmade gifts, decorations and seasonal treats from about noon, and Santa switches on the lights at 5pm.

Studio 1 Craft Collective has run an Artisan Craft Market around the start of December. It moved to The Den while the Alley Theatre is closed for repairs.

No weekly market, and what happened to the Butcher Street one

Strabane has no weekly or monthly street market at present. A council food and craft market ran on the last Friday of the month from 2017, latterly in the Butcher Street car park, but we have found no sign of it since 2019.

A public realm scheme started in 2026 on Abercorn Square, Market Street and nearby streets. No market for the new square has been announced. In the 1800s Strabane traded corn, pork and brown linen on Tuesdays.

Getting a stall at a Derry and Strabane council event

Join the council's Trader Select List on its markets page; the council then tells you when calls for traders open. Joining does not promise a stall, and some events need a separate application.

Food should use local produce where possible, and crafts should be handmade with no political messages. For street trading alone, ask the Licensing team on 028 7125 3253; the designated street list is under review.

For village fairs, contact the committee, school or farm. Fulton's Pumpkin Patch has taken stall bookings online for single weekends or all of them.

The 273 bus, the Lifford Bridge and town car parks

Goldline 273 buses run from Belfast through Dungannon and Omagh to Strabane, then on to Derry, about once an hour in the daytime. Shoppers from Donegal come over the Lifford Bridge in a few minutes.

The council car parks at Butcher Street and Railway Street are paid in the daytime from Monday to Saturday.
