Thursdays on Lurgan's Town Plaza

Lurgan Market runs every Thursday from 9am to 3pm on the Town Plaza on Market Street, one of the widest main streets in Ireland. The council puts up the marquees and gives each trader two tables with cloths, with electricity on request.

More stalls and trading vans use the marked bays beside the plaza. Traders cannot turn up on the day without a completed application.

Fridays and Saturdays at Magowan West, Portadown

Portadown Market trades on Fridays and Saturdays from 7am to 3pm in the lower half of Magowan West car park, beside the High Street Mall off Woodhouse Street. The upper half of the car park stays open for shoppers.

For many years the market stood on William Street. It moved to Magowan West after the old management agreement ended in 2021.

The council's touring Artisan Food and Craft Market, run with its Food Heartland network, has also stopped in both towns, twice each in 2026.

Trains on the Belfast line and parking on market day

Lurgan and Portadown both have stations on the Belfast to Newry line, with trains about every half hour. From Portadown station, Woodhouse Street leads to Magowan West in a few minutes.

Council car parks are pay-and-display or RingGo, and Blue Badge holders pay too. On Portadown market days only the lower half of Magowan West is closed.

Linen markets on Market Street and William Street

A grant of 1610 gave Lurgan a Friday market, and its linen market was among the busiest in the north in the 1700s. Portadown's Saturday market dates from a patent of 1631.

Portadown's 1929 red-brick market hall on William Street is now the Millennium Court Arts Centre, which hosts winter craft fairs.
