Crafts, cider and hot food on Market Street and The Mall
The stalls sell crafts, seasonal gifts, beauty products and artisan food and drink. Armagh is the Orchard County, and Visit Armagh names locally produced ciders among the market's offer.
A hot food area with outdoor seating opens on Georgian Day. In 2024 the trader rules left out chips, processed burgers, branded supermarket goods and canned drinks, so most stalls sell what the trader makes or grows.
Applying through The Eventor's spring call
The council recruits Georgian Day traders once a year. For 2026, The Eventor sourced 100 stalls across artisan food, craft, alcohol and hot food and drink. Applications went in by Google Form only, and the call closed on Wednesday 13 May at 12 noon.
In 2024 the application was scored. Makers who grow, bake or make their own came first, then Food Heartland members, then Armagh businesses. You sent insurance details, up to five product photos and a sustainability policy.
The 2024 fees were £60 for a 3 m x 3 m craft or food stall, £75 for hot food and £275 for a premium Russell Street pitch. Marquees were included. Food traders needed a hygiene rating of four or more.
Park and ride, free car parks and closed streets on 28 November
City centre council car parks are free for the Georgian events. On Saturday 28 November, park and ride runs from Elim Church, Killylea, the Navan Centre, the Palace Demesne, the Baptist Church on the Newry Road, Markethill, Richhill and Portadown.
Market Street closes from Friday 27 November at 3pm to Sunday 29 November at 7pm. Scotch Street, Thomas Street and Ogle Street close from Friday at 6pm to 1am on Sunday.
Armagh has no train station; the Goldline 251 from Belfast takes about 1 hour 10 minutes. All city centre car parks have accessible spaces, but no extra ones are added. Market Street and Vicars' Hill are steep.
Book ahead: light show, banquet and mock trials
Walking round the market costs nothing, but the best-known festival events need a ticket from visitarmagh.com. Tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded.
- Georgian Light Show, 27 and 28 November
- Georgian Banquet, Match-Making and Matrimonials, 27 November
- Mock trials at Armagh Courthouse, 28 November

From a shopkeepers' market in 2004 to a four-day festival
The festival began in 2004 as a one-day market started by local retailers who wanted to show off Armagh's independent shops and its history. The council runs it today.
The theme comes from the streets themselves. Archbishop Richard Robinson rebuilt much of Armagh in the late 1700s, turning the old racecourse into The Mall and founding the Observatory in 1789. Actors in Georgian dress now walk among these buildings.
